Rebel Moon and its sequel introduced a vast sci-fi universe ripe with epic stories and compelling characters. It’s no surprise, then, that acclaimed game studio Super Evil Megacorp (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, Vainglory) has leveraged the fertile franchise for its latest thumb-blistering title.

Dubbed Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game, the Netflix exclusive spins an original, stand-alone story starring an all-new cast of rebel recruits. Of course, this fresh dive into Zack Snyder’s space opera is also an action-heavy, progression-fueled affair that’ll feel familiar to anyone who’s ever cleared a monster-infested dungeon in Diablo or carved through hordes of robotic automatons in Helldivers.

Anxious to introduce the Motherworld to the business end of your Byeol Glaives?  We’ve put together a comprehensive guide of everything you need to know before you lock, load, and jump into the action when Blood Line lands like a dropship on July 15.

What kind of game is Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game?

Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game puts you in the boots of a fresh rebel recruit, ready to join the fray and take the fight to Imperium forces. The battle against the tyrannical Motherworld unfolds across multiple action-packed missions, from massive, screen-filling skirmishes to surgically executed assassinations.

While the odds are heavily stacked in the fascist empire’s favor, you won’t hit the front lines unprepared. As an action role-playing game, Blood Line equips players with a powerful arsenal of melee and ranged weapons, skills, and abilities that continually evolve through deep progression systems. The lightning-quick combat also unfolds from a top-down perspective, offering an experience akin to a hack-and-slash dungeon-crawler.

Can I play Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game with friends?

Yes, you can play solo or with up to four other players, via online co-op. So while the bravest of rebels are welcome to bring pain to the Imperium all by themselves, they can also summon some friends or assemble a party to have their back when things get ugly.

What’s Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game’s story?

Blood Line is set in the same universe as the Rebel Moon movies and features an original cast (with some surprising cameos). As a stand-alone entry that significantly expands on the world created by Snyder, the role-playing game spins a fresh rebellion tale starring a new ensemble of characters from several archetypal classes — Bannerguard, Evoker, Kindred, and Forsaken.

The story centers on the oppressed people of the planet Krypt, who are on the verge of war with the Motherworld. As you play, you’ll tackle a variety of missions across the world’s unique biomes — from the frigid Imperium prisons of Boreágos and the arid deserts of Kalokiri to the majestic and mountainous Pella. Blood Line also features a number of customization options and progression paths that allow you to create your own hero.

Regardless of how you progress your warriors or shape your story, Blood Line’s expansion of the Rebel Moon universe serves as a perfect jumping-in point for those new to the franchise. While familiar friends, foes, and factions are referenced in the game, you don’t need to know the films to join the fight in Blood Line’s rebellion.

What characters can I play in Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game?

The game’s original narrative is supported by a fresh cast of characters for you to choose from, encompassing familiar warrior classes — Bannerguard, Evoker, Kindred, and Forsaken. In addition to unique backstories and specific Motherworld-vanquishing motivations, each archetype is equipped with weapons, abilities, and skills specific to their discipline.

The Bannerguard warriors, for example, are the most brutal, capable of inflicting intense and massive damage up close, while Kindred fighters prefer to sling powerfully ranged attacks from afar. If peppy melee combat is more your speed, the dual blade-wielding Forsaken can slice and dice with style. Meanwhile, the Evokers have your back with a bag full of healing and defensive abilities at the ready.
