On Love Is Blind Season 2, six newly engaged couples see each other face-to-face for the first time, leave the pods and set off on a luxury honeymoon in Mexico. But there were actually two more couples who got engaged (but didn’t get to spend a week in paradise).
Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen revealed the two couples who didn’t make the final cut: Kara Williams and Jason Beaumont, and Caitlin McKee and Joey Miller.
You might remember Kara from Episode 1, as she believes she doesn’t come off as “wifey material” because she has “blond hair [and] big boobs.” “They don’t give me that chance,” she says. “I feel like I have so much to give, but I can’t even get to that point.” But in the pods, she was able to get past looks and connect with Jason, a 31-year-old flight attendant.
Jason confirmed the relationship on his Instagram on February 16, calling Kara “one of the most charismatic, loving, & supportive people [he’s] ever met.” Unfortunately, the couple has since broken up since leaving the pods in spring 2021, but says the relationship was still “authentic.” “Kara & I had conversations in 10 days that had never even come up in my previous long term relationships,” he said. “Kara found a way to knock that wall down for me & be myself which became the turning point for me in this entire experiment.”
Joey also spoke about first impressions in Episode 1 — he’s the silver-haired king who’s excited to date in the pods because he’s over talking about looks. “I’ve never made it past the first date without a girl bringing up my gray hair,” he says. “Developed a little bit of a complex!” He ended up falling in love with Caitlin, 31, who works in medical software sales.
The two confirmed the relationship on February 15 in separate Instagram posts. Joey said the two “vibed from first pod date, got WAY deep WAY fast” and “surprised each other with Drumsticks/tacos/Tequila/Bieber serenades.” Caitlin shared that after their spring 2021 engagement, they “had an amazing summer and fall [2021] with the opportunity to travel, meet each other’s families, and build a genuine relationship without the cameras and crew.”
In the same posts, the couple revealed that they broke up after a couple months, but are staying friends. “We are no longer together,” Joey said, “but absolutely fell in love blindly.”
According to Coelen, there was nothing wrong with the two couples — there just weren’t enough resources to air their stories. “You only have so many crews and so much budget and so much time,” he says. “It would be amazing to follow everybody, but you just have to decide what feels like a good group to follow.”
The same phenomenon happened during Season 1: Six couples were invited to a honeymoon in Mexico, but two were left out of the show. Rory Newbrough left the show engaged to Danielle Drouin, and Westley Baer got together with Lexie Skipper.
Clearly, the pods work a little too well.
