The memories of filming Selling the OC Season 1 are still fresh for the cast. After all, production wasn’t that long ago. “The last time we filmed as a group was early May,” Alexandra Jarvis tells Tudum. But beyond the proximity, it was a time that’s pretty hard to forget. The finale episode is as explosive as it is claustrophobic, with the entire cast confined to a yacht together. Tensions run high as the group discusses bullying and an alleged incident between Kayla Cardona and Tyler Stanaland (one the pair say they’d already, personally, put to bed much earlier). It’s difficult to tell if more tears or Champagne is spilled that day.

“We really haven't hung out much after that,” Austin Victoria says. Alexandra Rose is more direct, saying she’s “not cordial” with anyone except Gio Helou, Kayla, Austin and teammate Alexandra Jarvis. Still, everyone continues to work together in The Oppenheim Group’s Orange County office. Boss Jason Oppenheim identifies as “Switzerland” amid the infighting, which hasn’t bled into the workday. “We can separate [things] professionally. We're professionals first, so at the end of the day, we're there to work. We're adults,” says Brandi Marshall.

So, what has the Selling the OC cast been working on since the end of Season 1? From the drama with the series’ most controversial client — hello, Doug — to delicate alliances, the cast is an open book house.

Tyler Stanaland

Although drama tends to circle Tyler throughout Season 1 like the sun around Laguna Beach, he’s been “soaking in” a stress-free summer after filming, which feels like “a lifetime ago” for him. Tyler has continued to focus on real estate and even took a couple of surf trips. As Tyler mentions on Selling the OC, the sport was his first passion. 

“I haven't traveled a lot for surfing since the pandemic. So, I went to my favorite place ever, which is Toberua Island Resort in Fiji,” he says. “When I'm not working, I've just been fishing and hanging out with family and friends.”

Tyler thinks Selling the OC did “a really good job” of capturing what really went down during filming — and his co-workers’ true personalities. Although maybe some people had “spicier personas” on-camera, he admits.

Kayla Cardona

There is one fact Kayla wants viewers to know before anything else: “I am not a homewrecker and I am not a husband fucker,” she says, unsarcastically. During the show, Kayla is accused of attempting to kiss Tyler, who’s married to actor Brittany Snow, “twice.”

As Kayla prepares for people around the world to watch her story unfold on Selling the OC, she’s been trying to connect with the people who love her and know her best. “My life is really boring,” she says. “But I’ve just been working and spending time with my family [since] I know life is about to get really crazy.”

And she knows you have questions about her client Doug, whom Alex Hall believed The O Group should drop, and his much-talked-about listing. Well, it’s over. “It expired; he has no plans to resell, and he did ask me to make sure no other agents reach out to him,” Kayla reveals. “It definitely tells me that he never even wanted to sell in the first place.”

Alex Hall

Speaking of Alex, she’s proud of how “direct” and “loud” she may seem on Selling the OC (see: the Doug saga). “What you see is what you get, and whatever is up here comes out of my mouth,” she says. “So... there's no hiding anything with me.”

But Alex wants fans to know they didn’t get to meet all of her in Season 1. “There's a lot of unseen footage where a lot of apologies go on behind closed doors,” she says. “There's a softer side to myself, and I think a lot of other cast members as well, that you don't always see.”

As proof, Alex’s post-filming era sounds pretty drama-free. “I've just been trying to get my bearings and get back to work, full steam ahead,” she says.

Gio Helou

Although Alex and Gio don’t see eye-to-eye on Selling the OC, they actually have a lot in common. “Since filming ended, life's gone back to normal. I've just continued to list and sell,” Gio says. “As far as what I want fans to know about me: I have a sensitive side, too, and I do, occasionally, shed a tear.” Movies, he says, make him cry.

Gio, who saves that soft side for those “closest” to him, recently went on a trip to Cabo “just to wash away all the madness” of filming. But don’t expect him to rest for too long. “I would describe myself as a shark,” he says. “Like I say in the show, ‘Don't fuck with me. Don't get in my way, and we're going to be good.’"

Polly Brindle

“I am not Switzerland,” Polly says when it comes to the office tensions between her and duo Alexandra Jarvis and Alexandra Rose. But the squabbles can’t get her down. “It's not a nine-to-five where you are stuck in the office. Everyone's got their own different appointments, meetings, showings, every day of the week,” she says. “Generally, you're not all together all the time.”

That’s why Polly is feeling pretty good. “I have seen the show, and, no, I don't feel differently about any of my cast members after watching it,” she says. “I think everybody is exactly who they actually are.”

Lauren Shortt

If anyone is living their best life right now, it’s Lauren, who just wed husband Andrew Shortt this June. “I'm literally leaving for Bali [for my honeymoon] in a few days,” she says. “The relationships that I have in my life are quality. I'm just in a really good place, mind, body, spirit. And nobody can take that away from me.”

It’s a big step for Lauren to be able to count her successes like this, since she “was taught to never brag, to stay humble.” But she’s too happy to deny her situation. “Since filming ended, I've really been focusing on my wedding and our little family,” she adds. “Once I come back, it's time to hit the pavement because I still have yet to really break into the luxury market in the coastal Orange County area.” She is “excited” to continue to gain “traction” in the luxe area around The O Group’s office.

Alexandra Rose

While Lauren and Alexandra Rose may not be BFFs, they do have very similar goals. When looking toward the future, Alexandra says, “I am up to getting more and more listings and continuing to kill it in the real estate game. I want my fans to know that they're going to see even bigger, better listings.”

She also plans to continue to be one of Selling the OC’s most inscrutable cast members. “[I’m] very stoic and very able to control my emotions, unlike all of the people on the show,” she says. “I don't crave attention like all of them.”

Alexandra Jarvis

It’s no surprise Alexandra Rose’s real estate teammate Jarvis is also putting her nose to the grindstone. “Ever since we've wrapped up filming, I've been just hitting the ground running with door-knocking, cold calls, all the usual business. And I’m trying to enjoy a little bit of this California sunshine,” she says.

Alexandra is also still technically enjoying her California State Bar license. Despite moving into real estate, ex-litigator Alexandra has maintained her ability to practice law. “I represent a couple of clients here and there, but all my effort is truly focused into real estate,” she says.

Alexandra isn’t “surprised” to hear what her colleagues have to say about her on Selling the OC — including the many times Polly claims to “hate” her — explaining, “From the beginning, when I met my co-workers, I felt like I had a pretty good idea of who I was dealing with.”

Brandi Marshall

While Selling the OC might run on after-work happy hours gone awry and mystifying disagreements, Brandi is quick to point out she has more important priorities in life. Not only is she a busy wife and mother of two, but she is also a daughter dealing with her mother’s very serious health issues.

Currently, “not much has changed” with her mom, according to Brandi. She recently had a seizure, but doctors assure Brandi this is a “pretty frequent” side effect when someone is battling a neurological disease. “She does speech therapy and physical therapy. So, it was one step closer, 10 steps back kind of thing. Now she's learning how to talk again,” Brandi says. But she remains positive.

“I'm just so proud of her, and she motivates me so much. Because if she can fight through that, I can do anything,” Brandi says. “Getting a listing is nothing compared to her sitting here having to go through chemotherapy and a brain tumor battle. But, right now, she's doing all right.” When it comes to the cast, Brandi has leaned on Sean, whose father died of the same illness, and Lauren. “I call her at midnight and she will be there for me,” Brandi says of their friendship.

Outside of supporting her mom, Brandi has been “getting busy with clients and real estate listings” and “loving on” her family. “That's something that I've been doing since filming stopped, because I have a little bit more time on my hands to play with my kids and go on dates with my husband,” she says.

Sean Palmieri

Sean is bringing balance to The O Group. “I do work hard. I do party harder,” he says, stressing the fact that his clients come first.

“I just love to work my ass off. But, also, I really do think we have one life,” he continues. “Don't put everything focused on work. You should really put a lot of emphasis on enjoying your life as well and doing everything you can to make it as great as possible.” So, Sean has been enjoying cooking and entertaining friends as much as putting in long hours at work.
