The Hawk Cast: Meet Lonnie, His Family, His Friends, and His Foes

Meet the greatest golfer in the world — and his competition.

The infectious theme song by Hot Goat Music says it all: “They call him the Hawk/ He’s a golfer/ The greatest golfer in the world.”

But just being the greatest golfer in the world isn’t going to get Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins (Will Ferrell) the Grand Slam he’s always dreamed of. For that, he’s going to need a lot of help — from his long-suffering family and from friends new and old.

Ferrell knew the world of golf was the perfect background for his brand of comedy. “These professional players are living in misery most of the time, because very few of them win. If you win three times a year, that’s a great year,” Ferrell tells Tudum. “There’s something about that that’s really interesting, to take a peek behind the curtain in a comedic way. How that affects interpersonal relationships, the competitive side, the family side … That’s fertile ground for a big ensemble comedy.”

That big ensemble comedy comes with a colorful crew of allies, but Lonnie also has his share of enemies in the golf establishment. His untraditional playing style and flamboyant personality don’t rub everyone the right way — but the fans love it. Will that be enough? There’s only one way to find out.

Read on to meet the full cast of The Hawk, now streaming on Netflix.

Will Ferrell

as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins
About the Character

Lonnie is the infamous golf legend who choked at the finish line more than 20 years ago. With one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.

This is Ferrell’s first lead role in a comedy series. “I was really interested in doing an extended series because you get to spend much longer with the characters,” he tells Tudum. “You get to flesh out story arcs that you don’t necessarily get to do in a 90-minute movie.”

Of course, The Hawk also required a bit of golf skill — although Ferrell is careful to give credit to the golf greats who came before him. “I got much better, but you’ve got to remember, you get to hit the shot like 10 times in a row when you’re filming,” Ferrell says. “When you’re playing, you only get one shot.”

The Hawk sees Ferrell once again working with his former Saturday Night Live co-star Molly Shannon. “It feels so good being reunited with Will,” Shannon tells Netflix. “We’ve known one other for so long, so it just feels like working with your close friend who you love and adore. It’s just fun.”

 Molly Shannon

as  Stacy
About the Character

Stacy is Lonnie’s estranged wife who’s now working on fulfilling her own dreams. Her relationship with Lonnie is fraught, with unresolved feelings running both ways.

“I don’t want to rely on him. I want to be independent,” Shannon says of her character’s perspective on Lonnie. “But I know Lonnie. When he focuses, he can be the best of the best. So I have a love for him, too. It’s a complicated relationship.”

Stacy has staked out her own claim to fame: a spiked iced tea called Teed Off. “She’s really excited because she doesn’t want anything to do with golf anymore,” Shannon says. “She really just wants to focus on her business.”

Jimmy Tatro

as Lance
About the Character

Lance is Lonnie’s hotshot son, a golf pro in his own right — and one of the only players standing between his father and a Grand Slam.

“Lance is hyperfocused,” Tatro tells Netflix. “There’s that juxtaposition of the son who takes things way too seriously and might actually be a little better if he could loosen up — and then the dad who could maybe take things a little more seriously and might benefit from being a little more focused.”

Tatro previously worked with Ferrell on 2025’s You’re Cordially Invited, and he’s excited to work with him again. “I showed up to set just grateful every day to be sharing the screen with someone I’ve looked up to my whole life,” Tatro says. “And on top of that, we’re not just acting, we’re playing golf — so it’s got to be the best job I’ve ever had.”

Fortune Feimster

as Sam
About the Character

Sam is Lonnie’s new caddy, and she makes up for her lack of golf knowledge with a surplus of loyalty to the Hawk and his mission.

“These two have similar energies and end up really leaning on each other and forming a cool friendship,” Feimster tells Netflix. “I personally don’t know anything about golf. But luckily my character, Sam, does not know anything about golf.”

Chris Parnell

as Anton
About the Character

Anton is another Hawkins opponent, a PGA Tour board member who has a bone to pick with the untraditional Lonnie — and a few more personal complaints.

“My character is not particularly fond of Lonnie Hawkins,” Parnell tells Netflix. “He’s larger than life. He’s a real character. He’s very charming, even though my character doesn’t find him charming.”

About the Character

“Every take is different and more hilarious than the last, and I’m just laughing and trying not to laugh when I’m not supposed to laugh,” Tarver tells Netflix of filming the series. “It’s just so fun to be on a show like this, surrounded by so many comedy legends, and to get to watch them do their thing.”
