Summer may still be weeks away, but temperatures are rising on Netflix, thanks to Man on Fire. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays John Creasy, who was once a CIA paramilitary officerknown for surviving even the most desolate situations. He attempts a fresh start while battling extreme PTSD and personal demons, but soon finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever. The seven-episode adaptation of A.J. Quinnell’s book series also features Billie Boullet, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Bobby Cannavale.

The new movies and shows on Netflix this week are designed to make you sweat. The survival thriller Apex puts Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton into a twisted game of cat-and-mouse that unfolds in the Australian wild. And the documentary series Should I Marry a Murderer? zooms in on a woman who stayed engaged to a man accused of murder — while gathering evidence against him.
