According to the movies and shows available to stream this week, school is definitely back in session. In Best of the Best, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia play childhood best friends who join UCLA’s Bollywood-fusion dance team, only to discover that the competition is more cutthroat than they ever imagined.
A Different World, the sequel series to the iconic ’80s and ’90s sitcom, centers on a new generation at Hillman College. Maleah Joi Moon stars as Deborah, the free-spirited daughter of Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) who’s beginning her freshman year at her parents’ alma mater.
The latest batch of titles also includes Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, the high-stakes social experiment set behind the gates of the magical Chocolate Factory; My Sad Dead, the four-episode horror miniseries directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín; and Habeas Corpus, the Brazilian legal series inspired by real cases. And for another campus-set show, stream Minerva Academy, the Italian series that takes place in a military high school in Naples.
