Calling all fans of Worst Roommate Ever and Worst Ex Ever: The franchise is back with a spotlight on the people who live next door. Worst Neighbor Ever takes a deep dive into four different cases, each set in a seemingly close-knit neighborhood, until everyday quarrels spiral into harassment, intimidation, and sometimes deadly violence. Season 1 utilizes eyewitness accounts from community members, sit-downs with law enforcement, and startling body-cam footage to tell these unbelievable, yet true stories. Cynthia Childs (Worst Ex Ever) returns to direct the series, which is executive produced by Jason Blum (Obsession).

What happens in Worst Neighbor Ever?

Episode 1: “She Finally Snapped” — When Shawna Scott and her husband, David, move to Kentucky to be closer to Shawna’s family, the last thing she expects is to reconnect with Frances Zaayer, an old family friend who just bought the house across the street from the Scotts’ new place. What begins as fun rekindling of a teenage friendship turns sour when Frances’s odd and controlling behavior escalates into what Shawna says is racially motivated violence that tears Shawna’s family apart.

Episode 2: “Midwest Meltdown” — Monserrate Shirley, affectionately called Moncy by her friends and family, became a foundational part of the tight-knit community of Richmond Hill, Indiana, the second she moved in. But she goes through a sudden divorce and moves her new boyfriend, Mark Leonard, into her home. Leonard has a criminal record, and Moncy’s closest friends grow increasingly concerned. Then, on Nov. 10, 2012, Moncy’s house explodes, leaving two people in the vicinity dead, injuring dozens of others, and destroying upwards of 30 homes. When investigators find the cause, life in this friendly subdivision outside Indianapolis changes forever.

Episode 3: “Fear Thy Neighbor” — Miles Armstead and his wife, Melina, have big plans for their blended family. The lovebirds buy a home in the diverse, working-class Oakland, California, neighborhood of Eastmont Hills, where they plan to welcome their first child together. The family of six is warmly welcomed by their neighbors, including the Thomases, who live next door. Miles even develops a friendship with their adult son, Jamal Thomas, also known as JT. But when the Thomas family is evicted, JT spirals out of control. He squats in the garage of his family’s former home, and begins to repeatedly harass Miles and Melina. Fearing for their safety, the Armsteads continue to make calls to Oakland police, but the harassment escalates into tragic violence.

Episode 4: “The Executor” — In October 2021, Detective Mark O’Donnell of the LAPD receives an anonymous tip about 70-year-old Charles Wilding, a wealthy single homeowner in Sherman Oaks with no kids. The caller is worried that Charles is likely dead and his identity is being fraudulently used for financial gain. O’Donnell’s investigation of the potential homicide case leads him to Caroline Herrling, a litigation consultant who claims she’s in charge of Wilding’s estate while he’s traveling to visit friends. But after all the contacts she gives the detective for Wilding hit a dead end, O’Donnell begins to investigate Herrling herself.
