Simone Ashley is Kate Sharma

The character: Kate, the shrewd and dutiful eldest Sharma daughter, suffers no fools whatsoever (viscounts included). When we meet her, she and her darling corgi, Newton, have just traveled from Bombay to London to help her younger sister find a match on the marriage mart.

The actor: The pipeline from modern-day sexual freedom to Regency romp is apparent — Simone Ashley is most familiar to Netflix viewers as Olivia from the liberating series Sex Education. Before enrolling in sex ed at Moordale, Ashley played Dana in Season 3 of Broadchurch, Sofia Johal on Doctors and Zuhra in Wolfblood. Off screen, she’s an avid animal lover and photography enthusiast.

Charithra Chandran is Edwina Sharma

The character: Edwina is Kate’s sweet younger sister who shines just as brightly as the Queen’s newest diamonds. This season, Edwina hopeful that she’ll find a suitable match rooted in love. But just because she seems the demure debutante doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a fire burning inside — and it’s just waiting to come out.

The actor: Before Bridgerton, Charithra Chandran made waves (literally) in IMDb TV’s spy thriller Alex Rider, joining Season 2 as Sabina. She also played Cherry in Class S and stars as Stella in the upcoming web series Pillow Talk, which follows a series of conversations with her lovers that would certainly intrigue the likes of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. Much like her alter ego Edwina Sharma, Chandran is quite the scholar. She’s fluent in three languages and attended Oxford.

Shelley Conn is Lady Mary Sharma

The character: Lady Mary Sharma is apprehensive about returning to London after many years away in India. But she arrives ready to brave the stares of judgey mammas on the marriage mart — if it means her daughter(s) can marry well.

The actor: Shelley Conn has been a mainstay of TV and film for the last 20 years. You may recognize her from Netflix YA supernatural mystery The Irregulars, where she portrayed Dion Cross, or her guest appearance in comedy W1A.   Conn was also seen in The Rook, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and  Good Omens.  And all you Roald Dahl fans out there might recall Conn’s appearance in 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Calam Lynch is Theo Sharpe

The character: Theo Sharpe, a sharp-minded women’s rights advocate, works as a devoted printer’s apprentice. People associated with the ton admire him, particularly one contrarian Bridgerton looking for something more than frills and dance cards.

The actor: Calam Lynch may be new to Regency England, but he’s rather familiar with ’90s Derry — he played John Paul O’Reilly in Season 2 of Derry Girls opposite Nicola Coughlan aka Penelope Featherington aka Lady Whistledown herself. You may have also caught Lynch in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, Black Beauty on Disney+ or the Mrs. Wilson miniseries opposite Ruth Wilson for the BBC.

Rupert Young is Lord Jack Featherington

The character: Remember at the end of Season 1 when the fate of the Featherington family was left in the hands of an undetermined heir? Enter Lord Jack Featherington in Season 2.

The actor: Grab your chain mail because we have a knight of the Round Table in our midst. Rupert Young is well known for his portrayal of Sir Leon in the medieval fantasy series Merlin. In 2019, he portrayed Larry Murphy in the original West End  production of Dear Evan Hansen at the Noël Coward Theatre and was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance. Young can also be seen in

Rupert Evans is Edmund Bridgerton

The character: We heard about Edmund, the Bridgerton family’s beloved late patriarch, dying in Season 1. But this season, we see him in the flesh, as Anthony’s unequivocal idol whose loss he painfully carries.

The actor: Before growing out his sideburns as the loving and devoted head of the Bridgerton clan, Rupert Evans most recently entered the supernatural realm as Harry Greenwood on The CW’s reboot of Charmed. He has also starred as Frank Frink in The Man in the High Castle, Edmund Allingham in The Village and Elliott in Rogue.

Austin the corgi as… Newton

The character: Newton is Kate Sharma’s prized pet corgi, whom she brings along with her to London for the season.

The pupper: Austin the corgi was born in 2014, Entertainment Weekly reports. He’s a dedicated show dog who’s used to brushing paws with on-screen aristocracy. Before Bridgerton, he appeared in The Windsors: Inside the Royal Dynasty as one of Queen Elizabeth’s darling dogs.

The socials: Austin is a private pup and has yet to make any social accounts. A tragedy for the ton, indeed!

Colin Bridgerton and Phillip Crane stand in a room surrounded by candles.

Reintroducing you to Chris Fulton as Sir Phillip Crane

The character: We only met Sir Phillip Crane briefly at the end of Season 1. After Marina (Ruby Barker)’s plan to elope with Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) goes awry, her dead lover’s brother, Phillip, steps in to save her from disgrace and help raise her family. This season, we see his married life at home with Marina and the kids — and a tease of his passion for botany.

The actor: While Chris Fulton may come across as rather genteel on Bridgerton, his latest role in The Witcher Season 2 is a little more, well, fiery, if we do say so ourselves. Fulton lights up the screen as Rience, a villainous mage who wasn’t exactly tossing a coin to his witcher. He’s much more prone to throwing a flame. You might also recognize Fulton from Outlaw King, which saw the Scottish actor pay homage to his homeland in the story of the 14th-century King of Scots, Robert the Bruce.

The socials: Follow Fulton on Instagram, where he’s posted some delightful BTS snaps from the sets of Outlaw King and The Witcher. We’ll just have to keep checking back for his Bridgerton outtakes.
