As the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, be prepared to crack open the biggest heist ever attempted. Created by Eric Garcia, Kaleidoscope (previously titled Jigsaw) is an all-new anthology series that’s not like any crime spree you’ve ever seen — and this trailer is here to prove it. If you think you’re already an expert on the genre, it’s time to throw out everything you know.

What is the release date of Kaleidoscope?

Kaleidoscope begins its mission on Jan. 1.

Who is in the cast?

The anthology series stars Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney, Niousha Noor, Jordan Mendoza, Soojeong Son and Hemky Madera.

What is the plot of Kaleidoscope?

Spanning 25 years, the show follows a crew of masterful thieves who work to unlock a seemingly unbreakable vault for the biggest payday in history. Before they can get their hands on the cash, they must make it through the world’s most powerful corporate security team and the FBI.

“It’s loosely based on  something that might have happened,” Garcia tells Tudum. “After Hurricane Sandy, $70 billion worth of bonds got flooded in the basement of the DTCC, which is a large clearing effort that’s owned by a bunch of the big banks. To my mind, I was like, ‘Well, that’s a perfect coverup for a heist!’ ”

But, like any great puzzle, viewers will have to piece together Kaleidoscope’s story as they watch.

How do you watch Kaleidoscope

The compelling crime anthology consists of eight episodes, but you won’t be watching them in sequential order. Each viewer will have a unique immersive experience: The new heist series is told through a streaming experience, where viewers will enter the crime at different moments in time.

“When you watch Kaleidoscope, all the information is there to be able to connect the dots and know the story,” adds executive producer Russell Fine, who also directed two episodes of the show.

How will you experience the episodes?

Each episode is named after a different color, which means some viewers may start on yellow, while others might start with green. Every viewer will eventually see all the episode colors, but the order in which they watch them will affect their viewpoint on the story.

“Being able to move around and watch different orders gives you a different viewpoint on the characters. There are questions that are going to be asked in one episode that are answered in another episode,” says Garcia. “Similarly, there'll be answers in an episode that you're watching that you don't even know are answers to something until you see the question when you watch another episode.”
